Is Kremlin-gate the new Watergate? As the US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, is forced to recuse himself from an investigation into Russian influence in American politics, and each new days coughs up another undisclosed connection to Russian officials by President Trump’s administration, Spur asks what to make of this unprecedented situation south of our border? Are allegations of wrongdoing, as President Trump insists, a “total witch hunt,” or should Canadians be worried about changes to established geopolitics?

Spur presents outspoken critic and author Masha Gessen to shed light on Putin, Trump and what we can expect in the future. Masha Gessen is a Russian-American journalist, author of many books of nonfiction and a frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books, among other publications. After delivering a keynote address, Ms Gessen sits down in conversation with CBC Senior Correspondent Susan Ormiston.
