Professor Noralou P. Roos is a Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. She obtained an A.B. with distinction and departmental honors from Stanford University and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Noralou was a co-Founder of the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, and was the founding Director of EvidenceNetwork.ca. She is Co-Director of the GetYourBenefits!project funded by the Winnipeg Foundation. She held a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Population Health. Dr. Roos developed the MCHP into a world leader by using administrative data for bridging the gap between research and government policy development. In 2012, Dr. Roos was invited by the Medical Research Council to chair the Scientific Panel for E-Health Centres as part of their 17 million pound investment setting up something similar in the UK. Citations to Dr. Roos’ work place her among the top 100 Canadian scientists according to The Institute of Scientific Information. She has co-edited or was the editor of over 20 books and has published over 165 articles in top journals. She was a member of the Prime Minister’s National Forum on Health, received the Order of Canada and was recently promoted. She was elected a member of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. In 2016 she received the Biomedical Science Ambassador Award from Partners in Research.
