Announcing the Spur 2014 Theme!

We’re excited to announce Spur’s 2014 editorial theme: Signal vs. Noise.

Spur will set off on a 5 city tour, convening a conversation on how to find the critical signals in the Big Data era. Every day—in newsrooms, trading floors, laboratories—we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data, so much that 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone. With so much information being created—how do we wade through it all, determine which issues need exploring and chart a course for change? Spur tackles the issue this Spring, finding the ideas that quiet the chatter and discern the most important signals amidst the noise.

While the 2014 Spur festival doesn’t kick off until March 21st, we’ve just launched our year-round programming, co-produced with the LRC, at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto with a sold-out lecture by Graeme Smith. We’ve got more great content coming down the pipe, so join us and check back here for exciting programming updates.
